The skating rink is located in a remote part of the park, not far from the Ostankino TV center, and is popularly known as the “free skating rink near Ostankino.”
The skating rink does not have a clear identity, so we propose to give it a name - the “Ostankino” skating rink, based on the name of the park where it is located and based on the popular name. In our proposal, we want to create a bright, memorable image that would create a point of attraction in this place, and the name would be associated with it.
We distributed all the functions and technical content into two clean pavilions, which limit the territory with their facades from the south and west, minimizing the number of fences.
The pavilions have two main visual solutions. The first is the facade material, corrugated aluminum. Its main quality is the ability to reflect light and objects with a characteristic metallic sheen. Since the skating rink is used for a long time in the dark in winter under artificial lighting, and the park has New Year's decorations, this effect will fully reveal its potential.
The second element is wooden "screens" or false facades, which are a through element, used on the facades and stained glass windows of the pavilions on the skating rink side, as well as a truss in the roof of the open arena. The rhythm of these facades is inspired by the rhythm of the facade of the Ostankino TV studio, which is clearly visible from the skating rink over the roofs of the pavilions.
When looking at the pavilion at an angle, the false facade merges into a solid wooden volume, so from different angles the space will look different, and users will not get tired of the shine of the aluminum facade.
The territory is planned for year-round use, the possibilities of which we will consider at the end of our presentation.
